BFDI: Branches - Terms of Service Last updated: August 19th 2026 (v1.1.1) 1. Introduction BFDI: Branches is a free fan-made game developed by Team Branches. Team Branches is an indie group of game developers. BFDI: Branches is inspired by the Battle for Dream Island series, created by Michael and Cary Huang at the YouTube channel jacknjellify. This project is unofficial and not canon to BFDI. This project is not affiliated with Jacknjellify LLC. BFDI, its characters, and its assets belong to jacknjellify. The game may include new content and characters created by Team Branches. The game is currently in development, with a demo version available for Windows and Linux. By downloading, installing, or playing BFDI: Branches (version v0.3.2.1 or later), you agree to follow these Terms of Service. 2. Content Rating BFDI: Branches is suitable for all ages, recommended for players ages 7 and up. The game contains mild cartoon violence. Online features include: - User-generated content, such as levels and player profiles. - External links to the game's websites and social media pages. Note: The game does not include online multiplayer or in-game chatrooms. 3. Accounts Age Requirement: - Players 13 years and older can create an online account. - Players under 13 may only create an account with permission from a parent or legal guardian. - The offline parts of the game can be played without creating an account. Account Information: To use online features (leaderboards, level uploads, profiles), you will need an account. When creating one, you must provide: - An email (optional, for account recovery) - A username - A password Your account bio and published levels are public. Emails and passwords are only used for authentication and account management. Account Ownership: Your account is personal. You may not share, sell, or trade it. Player Conduct and User-Generated Content Players must act respectfully, play fairly, and follow rules for any content they create or share. By using BFDI: Branches, you agree not to: - Use cheating tools, modified clients, exploits, or send fake server requests. - Share personal or private information. - Use alternate accounts to evade bans or climb the leaderboard. - Use offensive usernames or profile content containing bad language, hate speech, or inappropriate words. - Create or upload levels that are inappropriate, NSFW, offensive, discriminatory, harassing, or impossible to complete. Completion/verification for levels classified as D9 (Difficulty 9) or above requires video proof: - Videos should clearly show the start and completion of the level. (winning run) - Videos should have audio (At least in-game SFX/Sound Effects, music is not necessary) - Video proof can be submitted as a link to any video hosting platform via email, in-game report, in-game profile, Discord, or other contact methods. (Players under 13 must have a parent or guardian submit video proof on their behalf.) - Without valid video proof, the completion may be deleted from the server after a minimum period of 14 days. You own your levels, but by publishing them, you grant Team Branches the right to use them in any way. Players can edit or delete their own levels at any time. If an account is banned or deleted, the player's spotlighted levels may be transferred to an archive account to keep them available in the game. Team Branches is not responsible for user-created content, but moderates according to these Terms. 5. Modding and Game Redistribution Players are allowed to decompile the game and make modifications or custom clients under the following conditions: - Completions aren't submitted to the servers - Users can't upload levels to the servers - The game is an executable (no webports) - The game is encrypted - The encryption key isn't shared - Modifications aren't advertised in-game (via level descriptions, profiles, etc) - The logo is replaced with the "Unofficial Mod" logo, which can be found at res://assets/ui/logomod.png You may not embed, iframe, mirror, proxy, redistribute, or otherwise make the game playable through any website without prior permission from Team Branches, whether by loading files directly from bfdibranches.com or by downloading and hosting copies of those files elsewhere. Linking to the official BFDI: Branches website or game page is permitted. 6. Data & Security We collect limited information necessary to operate the game safely: - Email (for account recovery) - Encrypted IP address (for rate limiting and security) - Hashed password (for authentication) We do not sell or share your data. You can contact us at support@bfdibranches.com to request deletion of your account and data. More details are in our Privacy Policy. 7. Moderation & Enforcement If you break these Terms, you may receive warnings or get banned. (Bans may be temporary or permanent depending on the severity of the violation.) All moderation decisions are final and at the discretion of Team Branches. A ban appeal may be considered after 6 months of the ban, contact support@bfdibranches.com for more info. 8. Updates to These Terms We may update these Terms of Service occasionally. When we do, players must accept the latest version to continue playing online. Players will not receive direct notifications, but the game will prompt re-acceptance when Terms are updated. 9.
